What Crypto Can You Deposit on Polymarket?
Polymarket accepts USDC on the Polygon network as its primary deposit asset. Direct deposits of ETH, BTC, or alternative cryptocurrencies are not supported. That said, UK-based traders holding other digital assets can readily convert to USDC through either a decentralised or traditional exchange before funding their account.
How to Convert ETH to USDC for Polymarket
- Via a CEX (simplest approach): Trade ETH for USDC on platforms such as Coinbase or Kraken, then withdraw your USDC to the Polygon chain
- Via Uniswap on Polygon: Transfer ETH to Polygon using the official Polygon bridge, then exchange it for USDC directly on Uniswap
- Via 1inch: Compares swap quotes from numerous Polygon-based DEXes to find optimal rates
USDC Networks: Polygon vs Ethereum
Polymarket operates exclusively with Polygon USDC (in its native form, not via bridge). Ensure you are transferring USDC specifically on the Polygon network, not the Ethereum main chain. Attempting to send ERC-20 USDC from Ethereum to a Polygon address will cause permanent loss of your funds.
- ✅ Polygon USDC (MATIC network) → use this
- ⚠️ Ethereum USDC (ERC-20) → requires bridging before use on Polymarket
Can You Deposit BTC on Polymarket?
This is not an option through direct transfer. You must first exchange BTC for USDC on a UK-regulated exchange, then move your USDC to Polygon. The entire conversion and transfer typically completes within 30 minutes following account verification.
Minimum Crypto Deposit
Polymarket does not impose a set minimum deposit threshold. In practical terms, approximately $5 worth of USDC represents a reasonable floor, accounting for transaction costs whilst preserving adequate funds for active trading.
